Steps To Crop a Video

Created by Steve Minor, Modified on Tue, 7 Oct at 3:20 AM by Steve Minor

Here are the steps to crop a video in PowerPoint:  NOTE that 1 thru 6 should be done

every time you insert a video. (Also opening the “Animation Pane” under the “Animation

Tab” at the top of the ribbon will allow you to see if the video is indeed starting at the

beginning of the timeline. If it is NOT, then click on the video and it will highlight both

parts of the video on the “Animation Pane”, then just click the top one because the

other can stay at the bottom. But move the top one to the top of the animation layers

by holding down the left mouse button and dragging it to the top. That’s it!)

1. First, insert your video onto your slide by clicking on the "Insert" tab in the top

navigation bar and then selecting "Video" from the Media section.

2. Select the video you want to insert from your file explorer or from an online

source.

3. Once the video is inserted, select the video by clicking on it, and then navigate to

the "Playback" tab in the top navigation bar.

4. Under the "Video Options" section, select the "Start" drop-down menu and

choose "Automatically" if you want the video to start playing as soon as the slide

is displayed.

5. Next, select the "Loop until Stopped" checkbox if you want the video to continue

playing in a loop until it is manually stopped.

6. Under the "Animations" tab, click on "Add Animation" and choose "Start with

Previous" from the drop-down menu. This will ensure that the video starts

playing before any other animations on the slide.

7. To crop the video, select the video and navigate to the "Video Format" tab in the

top navigation bar.

8. Click on the "Crop" dropdown menu and choose "Crop" from the options.

9. Click and drag the corners of the crop frame to select the area you want to keep,

and then click "Crop" again to apply the changes.

10. Preview the slide to ensure that the video plays automatically, loops continuously,

starts before any other animations, and is cropped as desired.

That's it! With these steps, you should be able to set up autoplay, looping, and start with

previous for a video in PowerPoint, as well as crop it to fit your needs.
