Mp3 issue on ppt

Created by Steve Minor, Modified on Thu, 9 Oct at 6:53 AM by Steve Minor

Is it better to use a wav ?

Yes — in most cases, it’s better to use a WAV file instead of an MP3 for PowerPoint, especially

when you're:

• Embedding text-to-speech (TTS) audio

• Exporting your presentation as a video

• Experiencing playback or synchronization issues

✅ Why WAV Is Better for PowerPoint

Advantage

Explanation

Uncompressed

WAV is uncompressed, so PowerPoint doesn't have to decode it in real

time. This results in more reliable playback.

Fewer Compatibility

Issues

PowerPoint (especially on Windows) has native support for WAV.

MP3s sometimes have encoding variations that cause issues.

Better Sync in Video

Exports

Immediate Start

WAV files tend to stay in sync with animations and transitions during

video export. MP3s can sometimes drift or cut off.

No buffering or delay on slide load — important for short, clipped

TTS audio.

Downsides of WAV

Drawback

Mitigation

Larger File Size

Re-encode to 16-bit, 44.1kHz mono (instead of stereo) to reduce size. Still

high quality.

Harder to

Store/Email

Use a USB drive or cloud storage instead of email if the file is large.

Recommended WAV Specs for PowerPoint
